Afghan Refugee Support

  • Refugee Assimilation

We’re sponsoring a family that was part of the U.S. evacuation in August. They arrived in Colorado Springs around October and we’re helping to get them assimilated to living in the U.S.

Update: Our family moved into a fully furnished apartment from donations made by church members. We helped them move in and are excited for an upcoming baby shower for a soon to arrive child.

  • Helping with evacuations

Afghans that remain in the country need help with immigration paperwork, with getting passports and visas, and we are even aiding with some evacuation efforts.

Update: We are helping over 30 families process their immigration paperwork and actively assisting in coordinating flights for half the families who are qualified to come to the US

  • Feeding the needy

97% of the country expected to fall into poverty in 2022. Because of this, we are helping supply some of the poorest families in the country with food, heating, and clothing.

Update: We are feeding around 160 people per month, some of them are the neediest in the country.

Every picture has a story

The name “Umulbanin” means “the mother of kids” in Arabic. The woman in this picture is living with this name. At the age of 17, she serves as a “mother” to her three younger sisters. the youngest of them is a new born baby (only 50 days old.) Umulbanin’s mother died when giving birth to her youngest sister. Her father, who was an addict, has died a few months ago. They are living in a one room rental that serves as the bedroom, the living room and the kitchen for these four sisters. Umulbanin says her only relative is her aunt who is too poor to be able to support them financially. This food delivery at her door will keep her and her sisters fed over the next month.
